PITTASAFE annotated concept render — pitta secured on oval base with overhead tonearm cutting arm

PITTASAFE

The problem: slicing a freshly toasted pitta by hand releases a plume of high-temperature steam straight onto fingers — painful scalding, knife slips and ragged, torn pockets. A daily minor injury in kitchens everywhere pitta is served.

The device: a countertop cutter that secures the bread flat on a heat-resistant oval base using spring-loaded silicone grips, then guides a low-profile stainless cutting arm along a fixed radius. The user presses a top-mounted slider knob — hands elevated entirely above the steam vent — and a small inward-facing precision blade saws a neat, even slice along the front edge.

The business case: a single-purpose countertop gadget in the proven kitchen-tools category — obvious demo moment, low part count, heat-rated polymers plus standard stainless hardware, dishwasher safe. Natural fit for kitchenware OEMs and own-brand houseware lines.
